A really interesting email landed in members’ inboxes last week. It was from Christine Jardine MP and asked the question: Want to stand for election?

Christine was writing to promote the ‘Bringing the Balance, Women in Politics’ event, set to take place in London on 7th March, aimed at discussing what can be done to get more women involved in politics.

As Christine said:

“On the 8th of March, we will celebrate International Women’s Day. This year’s theme Balancing for Better urges us all to demand better gender balance at all levels – be it in parliament, the boardroom or our education system. In celebration we are working with the Diversity Team on a new event; Bringing the Balance, Women in Politics aimed at discussing what we can do to get more women involved in politics.

“I’m honoured to serve as a Lib Dem MP in Parliament, and I want more liberal women to join me, Layla, Wera and Jo on those green benches!”

Guest speakers will include Sal Brinton, Helen Belcher, Baroness Sheehan, and Cllr Bridget Smith.
